Anime: Opinionated-reviews

Click on the title of the anime if you want to know about the plot and such. My job here is to give you my opinion on each!

Ah! My Goddess

I watched the first episode, and it was just so... bland. I couldn't watch anymore. The manga is much better in my opinion. This anime just did not seem worth my time. The story isn't trashy however, and it's much better in the manga. So go read that. :D

Azumanga Daioh

Very funny. Azumanga Daioh is an anime you can watch out of order; no need to watch it religiously for it to make sense. If you like an anime that you can just turn on and enjoy, one with almost no seriousness and almost all fun and games with cute school girls (no sex appeal and they still matter?!) and cute but ferocious cats... this is for you.

Chobits

The anime... mmm. You probably don't want any adults around while watching this. Chii tends to show a lot of skin. When Chii isn't the one showing skin, it's usually someone -else's- persacom. I personally thought this was cute. Not bad, but amazing -- but okay. Again, manga's better.

Death Note

Hehehe. I think the DN anime is funny most of the time. >_> Refer to this clip. I even checked the Japanese version. They are identical! -- ... anyway. Manga's better. (Hm, I'm seeing why I read more manga than watch anime.) The voices are alright, animation is very good - very, very good quality. The anime's alright, if you read the manga first. If you're a total DN beginner, go for the anime. You'll like it a lot. It's an anime that makes you THINK, much like Lain, only shit makes sense when you think about it. Extremely interesting. Plus. Hot detective. I mean. -cough.-

Dragonball

Very cute! Haven't seen it in a long time, but I remember enjoying it more than...

Dragonball Z

I actually was addicted to this. I watched it religiously. Then the fight with Boo never ended. I stopped there. :P Cool series. But the fights are so long, it's horrible. It's notorious for it though. The Freeza saga was actually okay, so if you're interested in knowing the classics, look up that saga in the anime. Also, the meme, "it's over 9000" comes from this anime. If you only want to hear the meme, watch the first 20 seconds of the video.

Elfen Lied

Oh my. It was one of my obsessions. I absolutely recommend this anime. However, don't watch it with parents in the room. Lucy/Nyuu like to show a lot of skin. The worst is in the very first episode, and in the opening and closing themes. :P Very deep, and very sad. Very interesting, action-packed, but not hard to follow. If you feel the anime is unfulfilling, you can read the manga (which, as of now, is not licensed, and is being released in English by fansubbers) for details and such. Lots of blood and gore. If you're searching for an anime to watch, this is only 13/14 (if you count the OVA which doesn't really matter too much) episodes, and you'll be happy you saw it.

Fate/Stay Night

Watch it. Now. Amazing story, highly original. Amazing animation, characters, everything -- 24 episodes of total awesome. I'm not kidding. I fell in love with this anime easily. Tons of action, a little romance -- and did I mention cliffhangers just won't do? You'll probably try and watch it all in one day.

Hellsing

Pretty interesting. To be honest I don't remember much, as I watched it a while ago, but I do remember liking it. Interesting vampire anime. ^_^ I'd watch it again.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

Ahh. :D It was aired out of order (intentionally), but it still sort of made sense. The correct order is on Wikipedia, so get that. Extremely funny anime with seriousness and hot chicks-- I mean. Anyway. Very, very interesting. Very popular, too. If you haven't seen this yet, shame on you. Haruhi is EVERYWHERE. Do yourself a favor and watch it. :P 14 episodes of pure awesome. Let me leave you with a clincher -- what happens when god gets bored?

Ouran Highschool Host Club

Very, very popular, and rightly so. EXTREMELY funny, and I demand that you watch it. It's cute, sweet, sarcastic and just so extremely hilarious. Some might say it's a girl anime, but I recommended it to my very guy like guy friend, and he -loves- it! And, at anime/manga conventions, groups of guys dress up like everyone from the Host Club. Mmm. Yes. This is another anime you've got to see.

Sailor Moon

Part of every girl's childhood -- of my generation, anyway. I even used to -play- Sailor Moon with my friends! ...not that you needed to know that. Okay, well, as a kid, I liked it a lot -- and I honestly think that if I watched it again, I wouldn't find it so bad. It's an alright anime, though I've sort of outgrown it. Not bad, not good -- but lemme say this. When I was a kid, I was -obsessed- with it. It's an awesome kid anime, to say the least.

Serial Experiments: Lain

Confusing. As. Fuck. I think I might have to watch it again to even get everything. Very very interesting, don't think it's bad -- it's very good, very good. It's just really confusing until the very end. Well, it's a scifi -- what do you expect? Nothing's supposed to make sense until the end. Recommended. :D

Sorcerous Stabber Orphen

First season was wonderful. :D Animation wasn't amazing or anything, but the story was very good/cute/romantic/actiony. I may be biased because I played the game before I even heard of the term anime, but hey. The second season sort of sucks in my opinion, which is a big let down. The first season had seriousness, hilarity (oh did it. :P), and even some romance and a really interesting plot, while the second series seems like it's all fun and games for quite a while. It'd be ... KIND OF okay if Orphen wasn't a serious anime. But since it's not, that's a big no-no.

Vampire Princess Miyu

The animation gets better in the second half of the series (not that the first half's animation is eye-scorching). I thoroughly enjoyed it. An oldie, sort of, and I haven't ever seen a manga of it -- but the anime rocked, so I really don't mind. :P This was very good. Another vampire anime. While I'm not dead into vampire tales or anything, this was a really good story. If you like vampires, you'll love this. There are "rescue episodes" '(omg that person is in trouble I'm going to save them!)', but those rock too. Romance tries to creep in, but it doesn't really. Not at all. Interesting, and doesn't even show a lot of skin (ever). Family safe, non-sucky horror anime. Woo! :D
